FAQ
The questions people actually ask.
Setup#
Do I need a framework like ESX, QBCore or Qbox?
No. It runs standalone on any FiveM server, with no database and no dependencies. If you run a framework it fits in — see showing a character name.
Do I have to change my other scripts?
No. Blips from any other resource show up on their own. To give them their real names and sizes, add one line to their fxmanifest.lua — see Blip names.
Can I rename the folder?
No. It must stay nobit_map, because other scripts reference it by that name.
Can I keep GTA's own pause menu?
Yes. Set pauseMenuEnabled = false in config/config.lua. Esc then opens the game's menu as usual, and the fullscreen map and minimap keep working.
My server doesn't use Cayo Perico. Can I hide it?
Yes — cayoPericoEnabled = false in config/config.lua.
Look and feel#
Can I force everyone onto one style or colour?
Not permanently, by design. The defaults in config/config.lua are the starting look for players who have never changed anything. After that, the choices belong to each player.
Can I turn 3D off?
Yes — dimension3dEnabled = false. It removes the 2D / 3D switch everywhere and the city model is never loaded by anyone.
Can players move or resize the minimap?
Yes. In the pause menu's UI settings tab they pick its shape (wide, square, circle), size, corner of the screen, zoom, 2D or 3D, and north-up or heading-up. It is remembered.
Why did GTA's waypoint and menu colour change?
The game's own HUD accent follows the player's theme colour, so both match. Set gameHudColour = false to keep GTA's stock colours.
Where are the player's settings stored?
In the player's own game client, not in your database. There is nothing for you to back up.
The map itself#
Which postal codes does it use?
The "New and Improved Postals" set — the same one used by nearest-postal and most postal maps — so codes match what your players and dispatch scripts already use.
Why do some blips say "Blip 52"?
GTA has no way to read a blip's name back. Link the resource that makes them with one line — see Blip names.
Why does the route work on foot here when it doesn't in the base game?
GTA only works out a walking route while its own pause map is open, so normally a waypoint set anywhere else has no route until you get in a car. This resource closes that gap.
What happens to a route in a helicopter or a boat?
There are no roads out there, so you get a direct line to the destination, redrawn from your position as you go.
Performance#
How heavy is it?
Around 0.02–0.03 ms on resmon on a live server.
Do lots of blips slow it down?
No. Blips are sent in batches, moving blips have a cheap position-only update, and the native blip scan runs on a slow interval.
