# Using the map

> What your players can do — copy this straight into your rules or Discord.

## Opening the map

| | |
| ------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **M** | Open the fullscreen map (rebindable in FiveM's key settings) |
| **Esc** | The pause menu |

Close the fullscreen map with **Esc** or **Backspace**.

## Moving around the fullscreen map

| Input | Does |
| --------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- |
| **Left-drag** | Pan |
| **Scroll** | Zoom |
| **Right-drag** | Turn and tilt (3D) |
| **V** | Switch between 2D and 3D |
| **Click** a blip/zone | See its name, description and how far away it is |
| **← / →** | Page through blips that sit on top of each other |
| **Double-click** | Set a waypoint — double-click again to clear it |

The buttons on the map centre it on you, zoom in and out, change the map style and turn postal codes on or off.

## Setting a waypoint

1. Double-click the map
2. Search for a place, zone or postal code — the map flies there — then double-click it
3. Set it from another script or the game itself, as you always have

The route draws itself in and shows the remaining distance. It follows roads in a car, **works on foot** (the base game does not do this), and becomes a direct line in a boat, helicopter or plane. It survives teleports and respawns.

## Finding things

* **Search** looks through locations, zones and postal codes.
* The **legend** groups blips by kind and lists zones. Each one can be hidden or shown, or all at once. Fold it to a strip of icons when you want more map.
* **Postals** — turn them on with the Postals button. They are the standard postal codes most servers use.

## The pause menu

**Esc** opens the pause menu: your name, ID and face, the server name and how many players are online. Switch tabs with **Q** / **E**:

* **Map** — the map, with **M** to open it fullscreen
* **UI settings** — your minimap and theme colour, with a live preview
* **Game settings** — opens GTA V's own settings (controls, audio, display, graphics, camera) and brings you back here when you close them

## Making it yours

Everything below is per-player and remembered between sessions.

* **Map style** — Game, Print or Render
* **2D or 3D** — chosen separately for the minimap and the fullscreen map
* **Theme colour** — 12 colours. It colours the minimap, the map, the menus, your waypoint and route — and GTA's own HUD accent follows it
* **Minimap** — shape (wide, square or circle), size, which corner it sits in, zoom, and whether it turns with you or keeps north up

> [!NOTE]
> The minimap zooms out on its own as you drive faster, so you see further ahead. Your chosen zoom is the closest it will be — speed only ever widens it.
